Lifetime Achievement Award for Pearse Mee Recognising his 40 year contribution to the Irish Software Industry

Intellicom was proud sponsor of the Lifetime Achievement Award given to Irish software industry legend, Pearse Mee, at the 2016 Tech Excellence Awards. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises a valuable contribution made by an individual to the growth of the technology industry over a long period of time.

Announcing Pearse Mee as the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award, broadcaster Matt Cooper said that Mee is a lifetime entrepreneur and regarded within Irish business circles as a pioneer of the Irish computer software industry over the past 40 years.

“It’s an honour to be in a position to give due recognition, with this award, to one of the key figures in the history of Irish computing, said Neil Wisdom, Managing Director of Intellicom who sponsored and presented the award at the event in the Ballsbridge Hotel on Thursday, May 12. “His contribution to the industry and to Irish business has been huge and I and many others in the industry are inspired by his entrepreneurship and success”.

At the Tech Excellence Awards event it was noted that Mee co-founded Memory Computer in 1976, the first Irish computer related company to float on the Irish Stock Exchange in 1982.  In 1990, he set up AMT-SYBEX to provide mobile meter data management and collection software for utility companies. In 2014 AMT-Sybex was sold to Capita plc a FTSE 100 company for €160 million. By that time it had grown into a company employing 300 people in Ireland and the UK, supplying software for 35,000 mobile devices serving 35 million customers of household names in the UK including National Grid, Network Rail and Transport for London.

From Galway, his interests include Arsenal Football Club (where he is both a fan and a shareholder) and National Hunt horse racing where he has enjoyed some success, with horses in his ownership having won over 140 races.
