  • Offers one of the lowest latency of any hosted voice or call termination provider to cross-Atlantic destinations
  • Bolsters resilience and service offerings to US, London and onward to other European destinations

Indigenous unified communications and call termination service provider, Intellicom today announced that it is poised to offer higher performance transatlantic and UK connectivity to Irish businesses from this autumn.

Thanks to plans by Cork Internet eXchange (CIX) to land the newest and highest speed transatlantic cable in September, Intellicom will be able to deliver one of the lowest latency services of any hosted voice or call termination provider in the country, good news for growing companies wishing to serve end customers or offices located across the Atlantic and onwards to London and other destinations.

Commenting on the developments, Neil Wisdom, managing director with Intellicom said:

“This announcement by CIX further validates our original decision three years ago to base one of our primary nodes in this facility. The continued growth and development of their data centre infrastructure and resilient connectivity combines with their excellent service and allows us to pass these benefits directly on to our own end customers and the services we provide them.

“We’re seeing strong demand for our cloud-based unified communications solutions, as well as high double digit growth in our SIP trunks and voice termination services.  This combination of high performance and competitive cost is very attractive for companies, particularly those looking to expand their geographic footprint State-side or to the rest of Europe,” he said.

“CIX will soon become the EU data centre with the lowest latency to North America and the Irish data centre with the lowest latency to London,” said Jerry Sweeney, managing director with CIX.

“We are delighted that Intellicom recognise the significance of this development and have chosen CIX as one of the critical nodes for their unified communication solutions,” he said.

The triangulation of the CIX node to existing nodes in Dublin delivers the enterprise-grade speed and resiliency required by ‘always on’ businesses to run their local and global operations.
